Please respond in one-two paragraphs. A paragraph is 4-6 sentences.
This is something that I've found. This is a 5th grade class in Loveland and they love blogs. Each student has created his/her own blog and updates it weekly. It's so nice to see the younger generations so excited about this new technology.
I think I did a good job in describing the two pictures. I had alot of details. My points were purpose, style, audience, and rhetorical appeals. To make my essay ebtter I should have went into more detail about the purposes, in my essay they were very short paragraphs. I also didn't talk about all three appeal in each paragraph. SO I could of used all three rhatorical appeals im my essay. I learned how to improve introduction paragraphs with the anaylsis essay.
ReplyDeleteI think that I did a good job looking at my two points objectivly. It was hard for me not to put in my opinion but I had an easier time with it this essay. My points that I discussed in the essay were the purpose, audience, background, and the rhetorical appeals. To make my essay better, I think that I could have used more quotes from my sources. I tried to have at least one quote in each paragraph but I don't think that I did that in every paragraph. I think that I have learned how to write with the sources better. I found it easier to incorperate the quotes into my paragraphs than it was in my informative essay. I also really enjoyed the topic that I was looking at for my analysis essay.
ReplyDeleteI dont think i did to well on comparing the two basketball players. It was hard to compare the same characteristics because not any one player is the same. My four points were Points, Assists, Mvps, and Championships. It was hard to compare because Lebron hasn't been around as long as Kobe, but at the same time Kobe already had 3 rings at this point in his career. Espn was a really good and simple source but sometime its a little biased depending on the writer. I think I could've talked more about there backrounds and their teams. I enjoyed writing the essay though because it was a free topic.
ReplyDeleteIn my analysis essay I feel that I did good on the retorical appeals of the articles. I analyzed retorical appeal, back ground, audience and summary of the essay. I learned that the analysis essays are actually easier to do if you have good articles. I struggled with making my essay flow. From writing the essay I learned that if you go into enough detail about what the essay is about it will be easier to understand.
ReplyDeleteI felt that for the analysis essay I did well, I really enjoyed writing about this topic because it showed me both sides of the topic that I used to think one sided about. The four points that I chose were audience, purpose, text organization, and rhetorical appeal. I learned that the analysis essay was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be once you break both of your sources into two different parts, the summary and your points. I have found that since the informative essay that I have become a better writer, I am finding that each essay I write is becoming easier.
ReplyDeleteI think I did well with describing my two sources. I analyzed the purpose, the audience, the motivation for making the sources, and the rhetorical appeal. I learned that the analysis eassy was simpler than the previous essays but I found that it was difficult to make the whole essay flow together. I struggled with comparing the main points of the book with the main points of the advertisement. Since the informative essay, I feel like I am getting better at transitions between paragraphs and citing my quotes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I compared the two sides very well. I talked about the four points that i chose--audience, purpose, background, and rhetorical appeal--for both sides; however, I had to keep going back in order to make sure I never included my opinion. After going back through, I think I did a good job on noticing when my opinion was included and taking it out.
ReplyDeleteI struggled with describing who the audience was and why it was important for the audience to know that specific information. I learned a lot form writing the essay, though. I have never written an analysis with 2 sources before. Writing this essay was very beneficial, and it will definitely help me when writing my argument.
I think I did well at analyzing the two different articles that I chose. The two articles were very distinct on what side of the issue they were on. I had a hard time not putting my opinion into the essay because I do have a strong opinion about the topic. The points that I discussed in my essay were purpose, audience, background, and rhetorical appeals. I learned that the analysis essay is one of the easiest essays I will have to write because all you are doing is talking about and describing two sources. To make my essay better I could have put more quotes in the essay to give the reader a stronger thought on the actual articles. Writing this essay helped me clear up how to quote things and how to do in text citations as well. I enjoyed the topic I wrote about for my analysis essay and am looking forward to the argumentative essay.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I compared the two sides. I knew what I wanted to say, but it was gard to explain and express exactly how I wanted to say it. For my analysis paper I evaluated two different photos that portrayed inner and outer beauty. Outer beauty is defined by society and Americans constantly try to change themselves so that they can become the ideal, perfect human and people become dissatisfied with themselves. In my essay I discussed the audience, the purpose, the rhetorical appeals, and the overall argument of the photos. I've learned that people can think different things about the same pictures and that there is not just one right answer. I would change some of the points I had for each paragraph because they started sounding like the same thing and I felt like I had to keep repeating myself.
ReplyDeleteI think I found good articles and explained and summarized them really well. It was hard for me to describe the points I chose. I don't think I am that great at analyzing an article. The four points I analyzed were audience, purpose, appeal, and organization. Doing this essay helped me be able to organize an analysis essay. Since the informative essay I have learned to go into much more detail and descriptions.
ReplyDeleteOverall, I think I did well in portraying both sides of the issue equally, and objectively. Specifically, I think my quotes supported my analysis well. The four points of my essay that I discussed were purpose, audience, background, and rhetorical appeal. The main point I learned in writing this essay was that you need to know exactly what your outline is, before you start writing. My first attempt, without a specific outline, left me with two pages of unsalvagable material. This was a waste of valuable time, that could have been used to perfect the final draft. It would have given me time to re-work a point that I was not entirely satisfied with, and a technical mistake in paragraphing. Inserting page numbers manually, fouls up your format when you make changes later on. The most important lesson that I have learned in becoming a better writer is to know exactly what your outline, and direction is, before you begin writing, and to allow enough time to correct your final draft.
ReplyDeleteWith the analysis essay I believe that I did well in explaining both articles with lots of details and objectively. My four points for both articles were author’s purpose, who the audience was, the style of writing (informal verses formal), and rhetorical appeals. In general, I learned that analysis essays need to look at the exact same points for both essays so that they can be viewed as objectively as possible. To make my analysis essay better I think I would change my conclusion to make it stronger and possibly critique my articles a bit more. Throughout the essay I struggled with taking examples from my articles to support my points, especially when proving who the audience was. Since the informative essay I have learned to back up my quotes with lots of my own explanation.
ReplyDeleteI organized my analysis essay well. Also, I think I made some good points. The four points that I had in my analysis essay were purpose, audience, motivation and rhetorical appeal. The thing I learned about the analysis essay was that it takes a lot tom be organized and if the essay isn’t organized then it will not be very good. I think the thing I would change about my analysis essay is adding more information to the four points. The hardest part of the analysis essay was finding the two different sources, I wanted to make sure that I got two good sources.
ReplyDeleteI believe that my analysis paper was writen well.I had a hard time understanding the assignment at first but after our conference I felt I understood it alot more. The four points I looked at were purpose, audience, symbolism and language. I learned that an analysis essay is probably one of the easiest essays to write since all you are doing is analyzing two examples. If I could change something about my essay it would probably time. I wish I could have gotten an earlier conference during the week so I would have had more time to change what needed to be changed. Writing this essay was very benefical and I can't wait to write my argumentative essay now.
ReplyDeleteFor my analysis essay I feel like I did well. I felt like the informative essay was easyier then rhe analysis because I didnt have to compare things. The four points I used were audience, purpose, language and rhetorical appeals. If I could change something about my essay it would be my conclusion because it was hard to write. It has taught me to compare to things at high levels in a essay.
ReplyDeleteOn the Analysis essay, I think I did fairly well. I understood the topic and hopefully did well analyzing each point. My four points were organization, rhetorical devices, audience, and the purpose. I learned that writing an analysis essay can be difficult because it is hard to write nonbiasly about a topic that interests you. When writing the essay it is extremely difficult to write without being judgmental. To make my essay better I believe I could have written each part with more details about the topic in hand. In becoming a better writer I have learned to write out all about the who, what, when, where, and why instead of just writing out the basics of the essay.
ReplyDeleteI think this essay may have been a little weak for me. My points weren't very clear in the paper; however in think I chose a better topic. I will be able to transition this topic into my argumentative essay. I'm still learning to plan ahead though. I need to try and outline my paper before I start writing.
ReplyDeleteI think this was really tough for me because I had to explain so much about two pictures. I also felt that i kept repeating myself a lot through the entire essay. I will be able to put a lot of this information into my next paper. I have also already started planning for this next paper just so I can get ahead of the ball.
ReplyDeleteThis essay was rather difficult for me. It was the first time I had attempted an essay of this kind, and figuring out what to say and what order to talk about things in was challenging. I think my language and style sections of my essay were probably the best. I also looked at the purpose, intended audience and author of the essays I analyzed. I feel like after writing this essay I can more easily identify the important pieces of sources. I cannot think of anything off hand that I would change about my essay, I came away very satisfied with it.
ReplyDeleteI think I did an adequate job on my analysis essay. I analyzed the articles audience, rhetorical appeals, background, and purpose. If I could improve anything, I would’ve made my introduction or conclusion stronger. In the end, it was more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was difficult writing without using my opinion, because I’m not used to that. Through this assignment, I’ve learned how to objectively compare and contrast two different articles from two different points of view. In addition, I learned how to incorporate a discussion regarding rhetorical appeals in my writing.
