Week 10.3
For this blog post, write a little reflection on your conference experience this week. Was it helpful? Did your questions get answered? Is there anything I can do in the future to help you with your essay? Overall thoughts on conference week? Your reflection should be 1-2 paragraphs. A paragraph is 4-6 coherent sentences. This week's conference was very helpful. I learned how to format the paragraphs properly in order to make my paper flow more smoothly. I also learned more about citations. I got all my questions answered, and I know how to better my essay before turning in the completed assignment.

ReplyDeleteI had my conference on Wednesday; I felt that my conference went well. I felt that it was helpful, you answered all my questions and told me a couple ways to improve my essay. You clarified the citation question that I was confused with. I really like conference week because it gives us one on one time with you and allows us to clarify with you that we have everything that we are supposed to have and that we are doing things correctly.
ReplyDeleteI think this weeks conference was very helpful. I learned a lot on reading through my paper and the certain points of it to pick through. I had all of my questions answered. I like the meetings more than the peer review.
ReplyDeleteThis weeks conference was very helpful, I had many questions and you helped answer them all. I have alot of corrections to do before I turn my final draft in on Monday. I need to add alot more detail in my summaries.I like the meetings with you better than peer editing so I liked this week.
ReplyDeleteI personally found the conference very helpful. I was at a loss as to what else I should add to my paper, especially when writing about the audience and purpose of the essay, and that question was answered very well. I like how conferences have been set up, and I don’t feel that there is anything more that you can do during conferences to help me with my essays. I feel that my essay will benefit greatly from conferences, especially with this essay, which I have very little experience with the type of essay.
ReplyDeleteI personally found the conference very helpful. I was not all that prepared for the conference because I was still struggling on how to start it off. From the conference, I realized that my topic was too broad and i still needed to narrow it down and actually choose an argument and find sources that supported that argument and went against it as well. My questions of confusion were answered and helped me decide to focus on just one part of technology rather than going about all of it. I like having conferences because it gives me a little bit of time off from class and allows me to get personal attention and help for how to improve my writing and know exactly what I need to add. In general it allows me to feel more connected with you because it is one of the only times I talk to you one on one.
ReplyDeleteI knew going into the conferences would help a lot. Some of the best advice is usually from the teacher that assigned you the work. I also was fairly clueless on what direction to go and how to organize my paper, and that was cleared up. Conferences are also great because of the time off of course. I've actually managed to use some of the time off of class to work on my paper unlike last time.
ReplyDeleteMy conference this week was helpful. You answered all my questions and explained exctly how my paper should be structured. I was quite confused on how this paper was suppossed to be written so being able to sit down and talk with you helped a lot. I also enjoy having some time off this week so that way I could spend more time working on my essay.
ReplyDeleteMy conference this week was somewhat helpful. I needed help with the format of how you wanted the analyses points to be and that was answered. I went into the conference not as prepared as I should have been but I understand the assignment more now. What could have been a little more helpful is if you had collected the essays earlier in the week like with the reflection essay and we could see exactly what we needed to fix. I feel like that way helped me more.
ReplyDeleteOur conference this week was helpful. I only had a rough draft of a few pages, and tough as it was to hear , I had gone in the wrong direction. At the conference, you clarified the outline for me. I think my trouble with the essay, is that it is a fairly large subject, with a lot of material, and the two authors of this material are biased, and I do not trust their opinions or facts. After answering my questions at the conference, I was able to sit down and write with direction in mind, instead of straying fom topic to topic within each paragraph. Even thogh I had a late start on this essay because of illness, and I did not have much written, I think the conferences work better for me than the peer critiques. I also think, like Katie Grabowski said, that it might be helpful to turn in our rough drafts early, so that we would have more time to fix them. However, I do understand that this would entail a whole lot more work for you. A lot of essays and a lot of hours. Maybe if it wasn't mandatory, and just the students who felt they needed to, would cut the work load down to a mageable size. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThe conference this week was very helpful. I was not completely sure how this essay was to be structured and what needed to be included in it. After the conference I had a better idea of how it needed to look and was able to make the changes that I needed to make. Conferece week was helpful becuase it gave me some extra time to be working on my paper.
ReplyDeleteYes, the conference was helpful because I got all my questions answered. I didnt know until the conference we needed 12 paragraphs I thought we only needed 4. After I had the meeting I added 8 paragraphs and had a better understanding on the purpose and the style of the two sources. The conclusion was also confusing until I got it answered about how we have to say why people would want to read it.
ReplyDeleteI found conferences this week to be very helpful. I had a few questions concerning quotes, sources and support for my main areas of analysis; however, the meeting gave me a chance for my questions to be answered. I now feel more confident about how to write and make my essay stronger. I found the conferences to be more constructive than the peer reviews.
ReplyDeleteI had my conference on Wednesday of this week. I got a lot out of my conference and felt it went very well. All of my questions got answered and I was able to clear up my confusion on in text citations and drop quotes. It was a helpful conference and I learned a couple ways to improve my essay. I like conference week better than peer review because we get direct feedback from the person who is grading out essay.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I was unable to make it back up to Greeley until around 6 on friday night. Sorry for missing the conference. Not sure if I'm still supposed to write 4-6 sentences? My car broke down! Wah!! However I feel like a did write a pretty good paper.
