This is the last blog of the semester. (Clap, clap, clap) I want you to read "Coal in a Nice Shade of Green" by Homer-Dixon and Friedmann on pages 552-553. After you are done reading, answer one of the questions on page 551 in at least one paragraph. Please use examples from the text as proof that you read the article. Make sure to quote properly. Also, please indicate which question you choose to answer.
3. It is strange that neither author would think of adding in the costs of each energy production. As a reader, the neglect makes me think that perhaps they did not truly know what they were talking about--at least not thoroughly. Homer-Dixon and Friedmann could have easily added to their own credibilities by stating the numbers that correspond with their topic. It seems like most people automatically think "intelligent" when they see statistics in articles/essays. It would also make readers think more about saving energy and using different resources if they knew which one was more efficient as well as costing less.

ReplyDelete3. I agree that the author talked nothing about the cost wheb he could have. It shows that hes trying to impress the reader with the unimportant facts and not the good ones. Most readers will fall for it if they arent familiar with the topic or interested. So when you get a reader who is familiar, he sounds so bad.
