Week 4.3
This is the last extra credit blog post for the week. So it is the end of conference week and I'm wondering how you liked or disliked meeting with me individually. In one paragraph, tell me how our conference helped your essay. Did you learn anything? What did you learn about how I grade? Are your anxieties about this essay subdued? If it didn't help, tell me what I can do for future conferences. Conferences are a way to help each student with their own personal writing issues.

I really liked having the writing conference with you. I learned so much about improving my essay. I liked being able to have the grader grade my paper before it is actually due, that way I can fix the things that I didn't catch at first. I am not stressed anymore and I'm looking forward to have the opportunity to continue having these conferences in the future.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy meeting with you about my essay. You helped me figure out what I need to fix or add to my essay to make it better. I'm also really glad you were able to help me with my conclusion. I was happy that you asked us any questions about our essays also. I'm anxious to figure out what grade I will get on it but I'm not nervous or worried about it.
ReplyDeleteI personally found the one-on-one meeting very helpful. It was nice to get some personal attention, it made it much easier to identify what problems there were with my paper, some of which may have been completely different from problems most of the group faced. I feel like I know exactly what I need to fix and I’m more confident of what the final grade will be. Overall I found the process rather enjoyable and I’m looking forward to conferences on future papers in this class.
ReplyDeleteI most definitly enjoyed the conference. I was apprehensive before the meeting because I've never met with a teacher before. You were very easy to talk with and extremely helpful in explaining the technical aspects of writing an essay which I was lacking in. You allayed my fear that my thesis statement might not be good enough. I'm not sure about the grading but I think I'm prbably harder on myself than you are. Thank You for spending your time with me.
ReplyDeleteI liked meeting with you, I liked the one-on-one time. Before turning in any essays I like to ask the teachers opinion and she if there are major things that need to be changed. It is really helpful because it let me know what you were looking for. So I am able to write an essay that you will like. The reflective essay was an easy essay to write because it was about my life, so it is easier to come up with ideas. Future writing assignments will most likely be more difficult so I think the conferences would be extremely helpful.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed being able to meet with you this week. I thought that having conferences was very helpful. I really liked how you were able to read our papers before the conference so that you knew exactly what to tell us that would help us improve our papers. After going to conferences I feel a lot better about the paper with the couple of changes I had to make.
ReplyDeleteMy conference with you, really helped. You told me what was important to include in my essay and what really wasn't necassary. After my conference my paper was easy to write and fix. I'm still a little nervous because it's our first paper in the class.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you held the conferences individually since it gave us a chance to see how you grade and ask you questions. I learned that you grade papers a lot like my high school teachers graded my papers. This conference helped calm my anxieties about my essay since it showed me that I did an okay job writing my paper. I also liked the conferences since it allowed me to explain some of my word choice that you said was okay, but would had marked me down if I did not tell you why I chose that word.

Setting up a confrence for my essay helped me out and it gave me an opportunity to ask any questions I had. My paper wasn't quite finished and so you gave me some ideas to include into my essay. I'm still a little bit nervous about what I might get as a grade on my paper, but I know you're not trying to work against me and you're just trying to help me improve. Besides, I'm always nervous when it comes to turning things in.
ReplyDeleteI thought our conference went really well. Whenever someone else grades a paper i write, it turns out that I have way more mistakes than I thought, but that is helpful. The conference also made me feel more confident with what i'm going to write for the rest of my paper and how the finished product should turn out. Therefore, conferences were a great help.
ReplyDeleteI liked the conference we had because you pointed out a lot of things in my essay. A couple big time gaps and some formatting, which helped a lot. You gave me some good ideas to help finish and elaborate on my events. I'm not really nervous when it comes to essays, I usually just take what I get and run with it for next time.
ReplyDeleteI liked having the conferences and meeting with you because it helped me realize things about my paper that I didn't notice while I was writing it or reviewing it. I liked being shown what could be improved in my paper before it is actually graded, that way I can get a better grade plus be shown what was wrong with my writing and improve. After the meeting, I am feeling more confident about my writing and am no longer worried about this paper. I'm looking forward to seeing what grade I got on this paper and writing other papers in this class in the future.
